The much-anticipated Wild Paths Festival will take place across Norwich from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th October, despite the rising number of cases of Covid-19.
The festival has been described as “a new breed of festival, presenting the best in live music from indie, hip-hop and neo-soul, to post punk and new-wave jazz.” But it’s not only music – there will also be a variety of conferences, art fairs and after-parties taking place alongside.
According to latest government data, 39,851 new Covid cases and 143 Covid-related deaths were recorded in the latest 24 hour period (as of 6th October), the highest number of daily Covid infections recorded since the 6th September. However, Wild Paths festival has said that they will “be following the most up to date Covid regulatory guidelines and doing our utmost to keep you all safe” and they will require all attendees to show proof of full vaccination, natural immunity or a negative lateral flow test.
The festival is set to have an action-packed line up with bands headlining including ‘Sports Team’, ‘Biig Piig’, ‘Palace’ and world-renowned broadcaster and DJ, Giles Peterson. One of the bands taking to the stage is the up and coming alternative rock band, ‘Flamingods’, who took to Twitter to express their excitement: “we’re just looking forward to the killer line-up and getting to play out our new jams to a room of people again.”
Wild Paths has also been making headlines with its pledge to challenge perspectives on gender and minority group representation. The festival has stated that “so far [as of the 14th May] this year’s line-up has a gender spilt of 53.19% of acts who identify as female or non-binary.” They went on to explain that “we are constantly working towards gender parity across all of our events and will continue to shout about it until this is the norm across the industry.”
