Ferreted out: abandoned ferrets rescued from alleyway

A member of the public found three ferrets abandoned in an alleyway in Stevenage.

RSPCA animal rescue officer Nick Jonas transported the animals to their Martlesham animal centre.

He said, “It does make you despair why someone would do this”, and called it an “unusual abandonment”.

Staff at the animal centre named them Artemis, Athena and Aphrodite after the Greek goddesses of wild animals, wisdom and love respectively.

The ferrets are now looking for a new home with “kind and expert” new owners.
