*UPDATE* Sunak estimated to pay less than £90 towards unemployment benefits

By using the Telegraph welfare calculator our reporter, Paris Maben-Hume has worked out the following:

A full-time employee on minimum wage earns a salary of £18,964.40.

They will pay £2,046 total in tax, and £642 of this is spent on welfare.

Of this £642 spent on welfare, £3 is spent on unemployment benefits.

For Comparison…

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is estimated to earn £167,391.

He will pay £68,395 in tax, and £21,452 of this is spent on welfare.

Of this £21,452 spent on welfare, only £87 is spent on unemployment benefits.
