Great Yarmouth Borough Council have reassured traders that the current phase of the market redevelopment will be complete by summer of this year.

Tim Williams, communications manager for Great Yarmouth Borough Council, explained that despite previous delays, it is now back on track.

“Work is progressing really well. We think this is going to be a really good benefit to the centre of Great Yarmouth, and to the people who live here.”

The £4.7 million pound investment will improve the Market Place area, and includes a wooden canopy covering the new units for the stalls.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council and the Future High Streets Fund paid for the investment.

What do the market traders think?

The redevelopment of the market is part of a large scale changes to the centre of Great Yarmouth, including the renovation of the former Palmers department store building opposite the Market Place. £20 million will be invested to make it a new library and university learning hub.
