A Norwich bookshop is in the running for independent bookshop of the year

Bookbugs and Dragon Tales, which is an individual bookshop located in Timberhill, Norwich, has been included in the shortlist for 2022 British Book Awards.

The bookstore will have to compete against several other independent bookstores in the East of England region before getting a chance at the national title. For example, in the regional category, the Norwich store is against shops in Ipswich, Maldon, Huntingdon, and Margate.

The winner for the regional category will be announced on Wednesday the 16th of March.

The bookshop sells a variety of different book genres and runs classes for different ages. For example, creative writing for children aged 11 and above, which could be a reason for their success. This is not Bookbugs and Dragon Tales’ first taste of national recognition, as it has been previously named the top 10 independent bookstore in Britain by publisher Louise Boland for the Guardian.

The regional winners then compete for the national title, which is announced in a ceremony on Monday, May 23rd.
